I love Mandriva Linux
The installation of Mandriva 2010 on my desktop machines work very well and all hardware detected without any problems. I did not expect any problems installing on my Compaq Presario CQ60-305EA lap top.
I decided to replace my 160gb hard disk drive for a 300gb to enable a dual boot system Vista and Mandriva 2010.
I installed the new 300gb drive restored Vista with the two recovery disks. Unfortunately you cannot change any of the settings by this method.
Once Vista basic was installed I went into computer management, disk options. And reduced the c: drive from 300gb to 160gb the live resize in vista worked well.
Leaving 160gb free.
I booted the Mandriva 2010 dvd selecting the KDE options
most of the hardware was detected but the video test options for Nvidia did not work.
Eventually after testing all the video options I found one that worked.
Running the system the desk top was terribly slow the touchpad was erratic the video was poor.
wireless connection was very poor and slow. Such a shame.
After spending several hours setting up new drivers did not resolve the issues.
I gave up and installed Ubuntu 9.10 everything worked video, wireless, sound, even the webcam worked.
