Mandriva 2008 unable to copy from desktop to xampp folder with Konqueror

I there a way to use konqueror to change permissions and ownership.
I tried to drag and drop some files from my desktop to the httdocs folder.
The httdocs was greyed out and I could not change anything.

Ok I can open a terminal window and su, password,
chmod, & chown, and type in long pathnames, hope I copy to the right path with cp.   What should take seconds takes ages.

Open a terminal window
$  su
Enter password:
#
# kdesu konqueror

Konqueror will now be open in  superuser  at root level
Use Konqueror as normal  Then simply drag and drop.
Files as normal.

Right click on the files to change ownership
And privileges
